From what I was told about my great-grandparents was that they were simple chicken farmers. What I remember about my great-grandparents is that my great-grandfather was bedridden, and my great grandmother was arrested and sent to prison. I guess it all started on their chicken farm. My great grandfather tended to the chickens. My great grandmother cooked them. She would make chicken pot pies and sell them down at the end of the driveway. Roadside. And made a pretty penny doing it. But then one day my great-grandfather took ill and could not tend to the chickens anymore. Eventually they were sold or died. Which meant my great-grandmother had no more chicken for her chicken pot pies. That same year many farmers were having issues with crows invading their crops mostly corn. My great-grandmother had a brilliant idea to poison some of the corn so the crows would die and then she could process them and make them into chicken pot pies. People bought them, ate them and then got sick. A couple of people died.
